After dope releases on Numbers, Saigon, Audio Culture and most recently Dirty Bird, Brussels-based duo GoldFFinch are back with a triple-bomb EP on Twin Turbo.

Turbo has always had a great vibe with Belgians, and the love affair continues with this EP... just what the A&R Doctor ordered: no-bullshit, not-at-all annoying, reliable as fuck tracks to play for almost any crowd. This kind of music makes all our jobs easy.

In case you like reading shitty muso-descriptions of tracks, here you go: 'The Light Comes' is a tightly crafted club smasher, a functional blueprint for how to build an understated crossover hit: short deep-house vocal sample, UK-ready / massive bass, and a sleek tech-house groove mixed to perfection. 'The Beast' applies a similarly slick beat but opts for a trippier top-line with spaced vox and pads. Finally, 'Ward Off' builds on a hypnotic arp line with a little spastik-esque snare roll, and voila, another winner.

It's no wonder taste-onados like Mary Anne Hobbs, Claude Von Stroke, and Jackmaster all be chirpin...

The Field Announces New Album Cupid's Head

FACT reports that Swedish electronic experimentalist Axel Willner, aka the Field, is following up his excellent 2011 album Looping State of Mind with a new LP. Cupid's Head is out September 30 via Kompakt.
Willner discussed working on the new album with FACT Update: This is from a press release:

“When I started to work on Cupid’s Head it was quite awkward. I felt that I had nothing to put into a new album and I'm not the type to sit down and force something out in the studio. But then, after a few modest attempts, I got a first loop together and running which turned out (in a short time) to be ‘No.No…’. It was a revelation of sorts as making it felt new to me, and different, and that’s when it all came out.”

Point Soma welcome another name to its ever-growing roster in the form of Portuguese producer Lewis Fautzi who teams up with his own alias, Nuklear Default, to bring home 4 dark techno stompers. A main stay on the Portuguese techno scene, Lewis has been producing for some time now and his own brand of pulsing rhythms has earned him many fans throughout the techno community. Title track 'Turn' launches this ep skywards with a ripping bass line that will tear speakers apart. Unrelenting drums whisk through you with peak time intensity as this powerful opener sears with non-stop energy. Things take a deeper turn with 'Anti-Cake' as a slightly more subdued beat slowly filters in with hypnotic drums patterns and synths swirling calmly before bursting the track wide open. Only a short break in the track allows the listener a little respite as the deep sub bass bounces back in and the track continues to move at quite a pace. 'Sinister' is exactly what the name suggests. A dark, pulsing low end creeps around the base of this track while more rattling percussion keeps the momentum going. This is the perfect DJ tool that keeps its energy throughout. 'Point' closes the EP with an old school sound. Delayed synths filter in an out atop a rolling bass line and perfectly programmed drums. The synth hook tweeks over into the break giving way to an effective dance floor track. This is a fantastic Soma debut from a young producer who surely has a bright future ahead of him
